These Pathfinders were winners in the news even before the awards

Graduation season in Palm Beach County begins officially today with the Indian Ridge school ceremony at 2 p.m. But before all that tassel turning, The Palm Beach Post turned the spotlight on 81 students from here and Martin County at the 2016 Pathfinder Awards ceremony Tuesday night.

Our story from the event last night hit on the highlights, including  accomplishments of Catherine Chen an artist and academic force at Alexander Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Lucy Krasker from Suncoast who inspired in the category of community involvement, and vocal talent Gregorio Umana at The King’s Academy.

It turns out that a couple of other Pathfinder winners had previously landed on the pages of The Palm Beach Post. So let’s connect those dots now.

Alexis Kauchick

Alexis Kauchick of The Benjamin School earned the Pathfinder Award in Business. Alexis is a candle maker with a cause – one to which her company has contributed $70,000.

Clare McKee

Clare McKee of Boca Raton High landed a Pathfinder Award in Sports. Clara is a nationally ranked tennis player with a spot on the court awaiting her at Princeton.

 

 

Dreyfoos student Charles Comiter, a Pathfinder in Mathematics, also got a mention recently for his work on an All-Star Academic Challenge team. And Foreign Language Pathfinder Derek Packer of The Benjamin School has fluency in Mandarin Chinese as his goal, it was a first place finish at a state Spanish tournament that got he and his teammates noticed in 2013.
